“Our aim is to steadily and progressively work towards a change in the British political system, bringing about a return to the core rule of democracy. The conventional system of governing is a cabinet system, whereby the council leader and a handful of hand-picked cabinet members decide everything. The decisions made by the cabinet cannot be changed regardless of any objection or obstruction employed by opposing councillors.
Integrity supports a change back to the traditional, tried and tested system in which every elected councillor had an equal say and vote upon every decision. We believe there should be no party whips or other means to prevent any councillor from doing their duty and voting in the best interest of those people who elected him or her to the important office of councillor. We believe the same principles should apply to members of the British parliament, so that every member is free to vote in the best interest of their constituents.”
